Closing Pleasantries, Networking

Engr. Magdalene Umoh, AGIS Planning Committee Chair

The AGIS is a joint initiative by a group of industry associations and other stakeholders to promote the Penta-Helix model for Africa’s gas sector.

Africa is endowed with abundant natural gas resources, with its huge potential as a transition fuel and is positioned to play a vital role in meeting the continent’s growing energy demand, enhancing industrial development, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The gas industry in Africa however faces many challenges, such as low domestic utilization, inadequate infrastructure, regulatory barriers, and financing constraints. To overcome these challenges, there is a need for greater collaboration and innovation among the key stakeholders in the gas value chain, including operators, investors, technology providers, and regional gas associations.

AGIS 2024 is a two-day summit scheduled for June 13 – 14, 2024, at the NAF Conference Centre and Suites, located at Suite 231, Plot 307 Ahmadu Bello Wy, Kado, Abuja 900108, Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria. The summit’s theme, “Igniting the Future: Driving Sustainability in Africa’s Energy Landscape through Gas Technology and Innovation,” encapsulates the vision of the collaborating organisations to foster a synergistic environment for all stakeholders within the gas value chain.

This Africa Gas Innovation Summit will explore the transformative role of gas technology and innovation in shaping the future of the gas industry in Nigeria and across the African continent. The 2-day summit is designed to address a number of key issues covering technological advancements, economic implications and environmental considerations leveraging the Penta-Helix model involving five key stakeholders, Government, Industry, Academia, Entrepreneurial Community, and the Venture Financial Institutions. This will create a collaborative ecosystem for stakeholders across the gas value chain.
